Summer means sport, and sport means cycling, of course! There are many cycling routes in Poland, but the Masurian Cycling Loop deserves particular recognition. It's a 300 km route that connects individual towns on the Great Lakes Trail. It runs through towns such as Giżycko, Węgorzewo, Mikołajki, Mrągowo, Ryn, and Ruciane-Nida. That's why we're incredibly pleased that this year Cariboo has joined forces with Łaciate MTB Mazury to organize races for kids in the Masurian region.

The Cariboo Kids Race is a sporting event organized as part of the Łaciate Mazury MTB cycling race series. It's a series of cycling competitions held among the picturesque Masurian lakes for both professional cyclists and amateurs. The event organizers are mountain biking enthusiasts who want to promote the sport and outdoor activities in the beautiful Masurian landscape. However, Łaciate Mazury MTB isn't just a competition for adults; it also includes races for children.
Cariboo Kids Race is a unique race dedicated to children aged 1.5 to 5 who want to try their hand at balance bike and experience the thrill of competition, and above all, have fun with the whole family. The races take place on a specially prepared track, where the youngest cyclists overcome various obstacles on Magnesium Pro and Magnesium Air bikes. We care about the safety of young riders, so Cariboo helmets are also available on-site. Participants are divided into four age categories, allowing children of similar ages and abilities to compete. Participation is free.
After completing the route, each participant receives a commemorative medal, and the best riders in each age category receive prizes. In addition to the competition, kids have the opportunity to try out the bikes outside of the competition. These bikes are available throughout the Łaciate MTB Mazury event, so every young cyclist can discover the secrets of riding at their own pace and range. Events like these are the perfect opportunity to better understand whether it's worth buying a balance bike for your child – observing their joy, engagement, and progress in learning balance and independent riding.

On June 23rd, we visited Mikołajki, where we observed young participants competing on a grassy track, conquering elevations and turns. Healthy competition is an important concept worth teaching children from an early age. It helps them develop qualities such as perseverance, patience, and determination, and also teaches honesty, following rules, and respect for others. Properly conducted competition can be motivating and encourage self-improvement and the pursuit of goals. Equally important is the conscious choice of the vehicle on which a child takes their first steps into the world of activity – so it's worth considering which is better: a tricycle or a balance bike.
Besides, apart from the incredible fun of riding a bike, you should remember that it is a training of motor coordination. Balance bikes for girlsk and boys help children develop balance, which is the foundation for later learning to ride a traditional bicycle. Toddlers learn to coordinate body movements, which improves their overall physical fitness. Cross-country skiing also helps strengthen muscles and develop motor skills. It's worth noting that the race itself is incredibly exciting for young competitors. Participants are accompanied by their parents and loved ones cheering them on, as well as a commentator who provides an engaging account of the entire event.
